A saxophonist and composer-improviser whose inspirations include Middle Eastern stories, rhythms and jazz. Born in Aleppo, Basel is a graduate of Damascus High Institute of Music and known for creating music that brings together artists from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. A winner of Radio Monte Carlo’s Moyen-Orient Music Award, Basel divides his time between performing, teaching, composing and recording.

Joining as a Trustee is Mona Siddiqui, Professor of Islamic and Interreligious Studies and Assistant Principal for Religion and Society at the University of Edinburgh. She is known internationally as a public intellectual and is a regular commentator in the media.
