Professor Chan Heng Chee, Singapore’s Ambassador-at-Large, has served as Ambassador to the USA and Permanent Representative to the UN with accreditation as High Commissioner to Canada, and Ambassador to Mexico. She chairs the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at Singapore University of Technology and Design and the National Arts Council and is a Member of the Presidential Council for Minority Rights.

She is also a member of the Constitutional Commission and Deputy Chair of the Social Science Research Council, member of the National University’s Board of Trustees, and sits on the Yale-NUS Governing Board. She serves as Director of the S Rajaratnam Endowment and is on the Executive Board of the Chinese Cultural Centre and is a Trustee of the Asia Society. Other organisations she has been involved with are Board of the Lowy Institute for International Policy; MIT’s Center for Advance Urbanism; and the International Advisory Panel of GIE AXA. She has received numerous awards: Public Administration Medal (Gold); Meritorious Service Medal; the Distinguished Service Order; Inaugural Asia Society Outstanding Diplomatic Achievement Award; the Inaugural Foreign Policy Outstanding Diplomatic Achievement Award 2012; and the US Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award. Honorary Degrees include the universities of Newcastle, Australia (Doctor of Letters); Buckingham, UK; and Warwick, UK (Doctor of Laws).
