Katia Pizzi is the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in London, and, since 2004, Senior Lecturer in Italian Studies at the Institute of Modern Languages Research, School of Advanced Study, University of London.
Pizzi is Senior Editor of the book series Cultural Memories (Peter Lang) and between 2009 and 2019 she directed the Centre for the Study of Cultural Memory at the School of Advanced Study. Prior to her present post she published extensively on the literary culture, the heritage and cultural memories of European cities, with special attention to Trieste and the Italian-Slovenian and Italian-Croatian borders, see, for example, the volumes Trieste. Una frontiera letteraria (Trieste, 2019), Cold War Cities: History, Culture and Memory (Oxford, 2016), The Cultural Identities of European Cities (Oxford, 2011) and A City in Search of an Author: The Literary Identity of Trieste (London, Sheffield, New York, 2001).
