Oleksandr Tkachenko has served as Minister of Culture and Information Policy since 4 June 2020. Prior to this, he was People’s Deputy in the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation (2019), and Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Humanitarian and Information Policy.

Minister Tkachenko has a professional background as a journalist, media manager, TV and film producer. He was ranked among TOP-100’s group of the most influential Ukrainians for several years running. He was an important advocate of the creation of  public television and  broadcasting in Ukraine. From 2008 to 2019 he was Director General of 1+1 Media Group. In 2016, he received a diploma in Entertainment, Media, and Sports studies from Harvard Business School.
