Pablo Raphael de la Madrid

Pablo Raphael de la Madrid is currently Director General of Cultural Promotion and Festivals at the Secretary of Culture. In 2018 he served as Cultural Advisor of the Mexican Embassy in Portugal; between 2013 and 2017 he was Cultural Advisor of the Embassy of Mexico and Director of the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Spain; and he was Director and founder of the Cultural Centre El Octavo Día (1996-1999).

Dr Raphael is a narrator, essayist and diplomat. He is a PhD candidate in Humanities at Pompeu Fabra University and holds a Bachelor of Political Science and Public Administration from the lberoamericana University. He has authored contributions for newspapers El PaísEl Universal and El Faro; the cultural supplements Laberinto de Milenio Diario and Confabulario de El Universal; and Spanish magazines including RevueltaGatopardoCasa del TiempoChimera and Granta. He has taught twentieth-century literature at the Claustro de Sor Juana University; and lectured in various forums on the future of the Spanish language, including the ‘Amigos de espanol’ seminar at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna and the Contemporary Thought and Science Seminar in Madrid.  
He is a member of the Board of IFACCA (the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies.)
