Park Yang-woo

Park Yang-woo was appointed Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea in April 2019. Prior to his current post, he was CEO of the Gwangju Biennale.

He is a leading figure in arts administration and cultural policy in South Korea, spending almost 30 years in various posts including Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism, Deputy Minister at the Policy Promotion and Management Office, Director-General of Cultural Industry Bureau, and Assistant Secretary to the President of the Republic of Korea for Culture and Education. He also served at the Arts Council England and the Korean Cultural Center in New York.

Park holds a Masters degree in arts administration from City, University of London, UK and a PhD in tourism from Hanyang University of Korea.

His contributions to the arts and culture have been widely recognisedby numerous awards including commendations from the President of Korea.
