Special Edition Performances

We very much hope you enjoy the series of short performances specially conceived for the Special Edition of the Summit in 2020.

Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker from Rio de Janeiro, simultaneously perform on stage and rehearse in complete isolation, excerpts from the acclaimed Cão Sem PlumasDog Without Feathers, inspired by the poetry of João Cabral de Melo Neto.

Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn performs an extract from Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski – an homage to the Polish war hero and Holocaust witness.

Trojan Women Project – an inspiring group of Syrian refugees who bring the poignancy of their individual plights to the timeless drama by Euripides.

Youth Orchestra Los Angeles and young musicians of Sistema Scotland come together to perform the chorale from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets by Gustav Holst.

And, the Edinburgh Festival Chorus breaking out of months of lockdown and bursting into song, perform the uplifting chorus Ecce Gratum from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.

The Summit is deeply grateful to all these artists for their courage and kindness, and for reminding us all what it can look, sound, smell and taste like to feel alive.
