Afra Al Sabri

H.E. Afra Al Sabri was appointed Undersecretary of the recently re-named Ministry of Culture & Knowledge Development in 2013. After graduating from the United Arab Emirates University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and later gaining the Executive Leadership Diploma from the Prime Minister’s Office, she joined the Minstry in 1992. Afra has been involved in a wide-range of Government initiatives and awards, holding many leadership roles. She was involved in both the development of the Ministry’s infrastructure, Cultural Centers, and the launch of the world’s first National Identity Index and in the promotion of culture and heritage with the Al Burda Award, Ramadan Forum for Arabic Calligraphy and E-Museum. Her roles have included Chair, Executive Committee for the National Identity Forum 2008 and the UAE’s National Day celebrations. She has been a member of the Board of Policies & Strategies since 2008, and Chair of the Committee for the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program since 2009. Her awards include the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program, Best Organization Award: Operations, 2010, Best Federal Ministry Award, 2012 and Governmental Communication, 2014, as well as the Stevie International Award, Executive Director Category, 2014 and ISO certification, 2009.
